Well...I have done nothing productive since i took my tests on thursday. oops! I did study some, but not enough to allow me to sleep tonight. Oh well. 24 hour establishment it is! I did have a fun weekend though, which I was not expecting. It was great. Friday night I went and played poker with some guys until 4 am! Well, I was out around 2...but thats ok. I did pretty well for the most part, but I ended up losing it. Practice makes perfect I guess! I didnt get to bed until 4:30 or so, so I slept pretty late saturday and DIDNT do defensive driving. So, I guess thats one more thing on my list for this week. Saturday night I planned on staying in and studying...that lasted about 3 hours until alexis made an offer I couldnt refuse. (i tried...i really did...)
Alexis and I got ready and drove to Austin to visit Django Walker. For those of you who dont know who he is (dont feel bad, I didnt either) he is the son of Jerry Jeff Walker. If you dont know who THAT is you must not be a country music fan! Jerry Jeff is one of the oldest Texas Country stars and has been around since our parents were in college. His son, Django, is also a country singer and is a rising star in the Texas Country industry. Alexis and Django met last weekend at one of his shows here in College Station and they have been talking off and on since then. He came back in town Wednesday for another show and she went to see him, and saturdya he called her and invited her to Austin. So, we went. Going into it I was pretty hesitant becuase of the stereotypes of "rock stars" and their dating habits. But, all my criticisms going into it went away after spending a few hours with him. He is such a fun, sweet, and genuine person. He was not full of himself and his career, he did not view Alexis as "lucky" to be talking to a country singing star, and he was as down to earth as you or me. He had a little bit of work to do with his website guy, so Alexis and I went to a mexican restaurant. The guys were all talking it up and...well...Maudie's left much to be desired. The queso, which the guys think is incredible, tasted like melted velveeta...and thats it...and the meat had no seasoning on it. I'll stick to Houston and College Station mexican food for now.
After dinner we went back to Djangos and hung out for a while before we went over to his dad's hosue to get board games. Yes, we went over to Jerry Jeff Walker's house! He was asleep so we couldnt meet him or take a full tour, but we did see the first floor (first of 3) and it was incredible. I would try to describe it but it wouldnt do it justice. I'll just say we went into one room that was his dad's office I gues...it had about 10 guitars, lots of harmonicas, pictures with willie nelson, etc. One of the guitars was a 60 yr old Gibson electric, one of the first to be made, and it was incredible. Django picked it up and plyed on it for a second and I was in awe. I felt like I was in a dream. It was pretty cool. We went back to django's and played scatagories which was SO fun, went to sleep, and then sunday morning headed back to college station.
I needed to do homework but I wasnt sure when brian would get in town, so I kept putting homework off until the night time. well, brian got here much later than anticipated and we went to fitzwilly's for a while. Turns out I didnt get much studying done. Ah well, what would my life be like if I didnt wait til the day before? It was great to see Brian...and Byron! I didnt know Byron was going to come, but that was fun. for those of you who dont know, Byron is one of my friends from like first grade. He is the little brother of one of Brian's best friends so when I was tagging along on all Brian's scouting adventures, Byron was too. We were best friends all through elementary and junior high...we were in all the same classes, always dated each other's friends, and were pretty much inseperable. We used to go snake hunting in his bayou! I am not dumb enough to do that now...how ignorant! but it was fun. we would take BB guns out to his bayou and walk around til we saw a snake, then we would shoot it. Killed many a snake and came in close contact with many...almost got bitten numerous times! It was my rough days. :) I guess in high school we got involved in our own things. we were always friends, just didnt see each other as much seeing as band ruled my life. (i know i know...band nerd) But it is always fun to see him and catch up. He is just one of those life long friends I guess. ANyhow, it was great fun to see Brian and Byron. jonathan went to dinner with us too and we had a good time. Brian talked a lot about Hawaii and got me even more excited for january 2! I woudl say 2-9 but that would mean that I am excited about coming back on the 9...which I am not. :( So I am looking forward to january 2-8! :)
